Well, that didn't take long- cute-as-a-button Hailee Steinfeld, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her breakthrough role as precocious Maddy in True Grit (2010), will reportedly do a nude scene in an upcoming adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. (14-year-old Hailee has signed on as Juliet.) The news broke when this scene from screenwriter Julian Fellowes' script was leaked to Britain's Sunday Times:
"They (Romeo and Juliet) start undressing each other - slowly, gently and carefully until they are naked.
They are eternal figures in a Raphael painting. Romeo then carries her to bed, kissing her again and again as they explore uncharted territory. Then they make love, transported into each other's soul."
Fellowes has defended his decision to include the risque scene, pointing out that Juliet is thirteen in Shakespeare's original play:
"I wanted Hailee because she is the perfect age. Juliet is at that stage of… what you might call a child/woman. Just like Hailee herself is."
Though Hailee's tender age means a body double is likely, there is a precedent for underage nudity on screen. Brooke Shields was only 12 when she made her nude debut in Pretty Baby (1978), though you won't find those pics on Mr. Skin- just the jumbolicious jugs of 32-year-old Susan Sarandon as Brooke's hooker mom.
So what's your take, Skin fans? Is Julian Fellowes a fellow in the service of art, or is he just another Chester servicing his own pervy predilections?

So if the line is drawn there, how come some filmmakers can cross it shouting "nanny nanny boo boo, stick your head in doo doo?" If they're crossing the line, what is going to stop some dude who find 14 year old girls who have NOT hit puberty and exploit them? And who is to judge whether or not the Hailees or other teen girls are being exploited?
It is a very gray area, and I kinda resent some random douchebag (no you, Chad) telling me to "get a grip" for being alarmed by this. *I* once posted pictures of a girl I photographed who was mere weeks into age 18. Looked awful damn young, and I scrutinized her ID thoroughly and questioned mutual friends to make sure she was the age she said she was. And the pictures were quite tame--naked chick with balloons. And I'll be damned if I didn't get flamed as a pedophile.
After all, we're just talking about the showing of only certain body parts. If this girl ran around in a bikini in an episode of a US tv show, no one would say anything about it. Much ado about nothing.
