Mah Na Mah Na was composed by Italian composer Piero Umiliani in 1968 for the Mondo documentary "Sweden: Heaven & Hell" which is probably the film in the above clip. The Muppets first covered the song less than a year later on an episode of Sesame Street.
This is certainly the same song. I also remember it being used on Benny Hill. The song was a hit back then and there's no reason to think that people who worked on the Muppets didn't also watch their fare share of Swedish sex films. Who can resist Swedish nymphs?
Most famous? Nope, not by a long shot. Besides, this sounds like it was ripped off of 30,000 other tunes... but only if, like most juries, you have no practical experience with the underlying "mechanics" of music. The vast majority of cases where people allege musical plagiarism, even where someone successfully wins in court, are bull@#!$... Just look at the recent legal fiasco Men At Work were subjected to.
