Party of Five

When newly on-his-own San Franciscan Charlie Salinger’s (Matthew Fox) parents are killed in a car accident by a drunk driver, he must return home to care for the rest of the orphaned brood (Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert, and a still-in-diapers tot). All the touchstones of the teen melodrama are addressed—pimples, first kisses, etc.—with an emphasis on the drama. Also getting emphasis was the ample cleavage of Salinger the Younger’s main squeeze, Jennifer Love Hewitt. Party of Five is best enjoyed with a party of one.
