The Mayan calendar stops tomorrow, and December 21, 2012 may usher in the end of days. But even if civilization comes to a halt, we can take comfort in the fact that babes like Kirsten Dunst, Milla Jovovich, and Mathilda May took off their clothes for apocalyptic movies. Apocalypse Wow!
Happy Halloween, Skin fans! There aren't any tricks up Mr. Skin's sleeve, just this treat for your meat: you've seen that movie The Ring (2002), right? Yes, the American one. Yeah, we know it was a remake of a Japanese movie...God, you're such a snob.
Anyway, if you've seen that movie you almost certainly recall Samara, the creepy little girl with the long hair whose appearance on your TV screen spelled certain death. Well, that role was played by one Daveigh Chase, who is now 22 years old and-- surprise!-- turned out to be quite the tight-bodied hottie. She has yet to do an adult nude scene, but a look at her Twitter and Tumblr pages has us stiff with SKINticipation...She once gave guys nightmares, and now she's giving them wet dreams.

This weekend the non-nude Bachelorette (2012) opens in theaters starring Nudity Hall-of-Famers Lizzy Caplan and Kirsten Dunst, but if you want some actual skin, there's only one option this weekend: Heavenly Creatures' Melanie Lynskey (seen above in 2006's Park) in the indie comedy Hello I Must Be Going (2012) (limited). Highbrow meets lowbrow this week on DVD and Blu-ray: First we stop by the art house, where Michelle Williams shines (and her buxom body double strips) in My Week with Marilyn (2011) and a full-frontal Kirsten Dunst mopes in Melancholia (2011). Then it's off to the frat house, where you can feast your eyes on Shannon Elizabeth, Lisa Arturo, Denise Faye, and more as the first three American Pie movies hit Blu-ray.
Plus, British beauties go bare in Killer's Moon (1978) and Virgin Witch (1971), part of Redemption's Euro-sleaze series on DVD and Blu-ray.

It's been years since the movies were the best place to see nudies, but there were some hopeful signs for skin fans in 2011: namely, the success of the NC-17 sex-addiction drama Shame and the super-nude fairytale Sleeping Beauty. Ok, so a Lars von Trier movie is hardly a light-hearted romp full of belly laughs and feel-good moments. But the Danish director has done a few things to make nudity fans smile- he pioneered the use of unsimulated sex in arthouse movies with The Idiots (1998), his production company Zentropia was the first to produce both mainstream films and hardcore porn, and he's gotten Kirsten Dunst, Bryce Dallas Howard, Emily Watson, and Charlotte Gainsbourg to get nude on film.
So to celebrate the long-awaited theatrical debut of Melancholia (2011), join Skin Central as we fast-forward to the good parts of this arthouse auteur's oeuvre (try saying that three times fast)...after the jump!
Usually it's their mutual director pal Lars Von Trier publicly putting his foot in this mouth, but in a recent interview Melancholia star Kirsten Dunst had a bit of a Von Diss for her fellow Von Leading Lady, Charlotte Gainsbourg. Explaining her motivations for taking the Melancholia role, Kirsten referenced Von Trier's earlier flick, Antichrist, where Charlotte does some pretty shocking things involving rusty scissors and her own genitals:
“That kind of film is harder for someone like me to get away with. I’m more in the public eye than Charlotte,” Dunst told The Guardian UK. “It’s something about Charlotte’s body, too. You couldn’t have someone like me, with big breasts, in that film. Charlotte’s thin and her breasts are small and that’s easier to watch somehow. For someone like me to do that film – it would almost be ridiculously shocking.”
Ladies, ladies, let's be fair. Big boobs, small boobs, as long as we've got boobs, it's all good. Now put those scissors down!
