It's completely stupid, there's and no one should see nothing wrong with under-18 people showing off. I'm sure most of us would agree that there are many teen girls who would completely pass for a older than 18 lady.
These age restrictions are plainly old-fashioned. WELCOME TO 2011, PEOPLE! No pedo is gonna go watch Romeo and Juliet just to WATCH some seconds of nude Ms. Steinfeld... Even if he did, Steinfeld wouldn't be harmed.
Some people seem to want to say this isn't a big deal so it shouldn't be a debate. There is something about this that I do believe is a big deal. I think if people were sent to prison (or even arrested) for filming a love scene for Romeo and Juliet then that would be a very big deal.
This is ultimately about freedom. No one making a movie about Romeo and Juliet should be afraid of being arrested on very serious charges in Juliet happened to expose a nipple.
I know many new laws are written up all the time, but ultimately many of these laws would never hold up in court. A simple love scene involving a minor with no actual sex would probably never send someone to prison. Even if a girl exposed a nipple for 2 seconds.
I agree there shouldn't be a debate here, but as long as there are people out there threatening prison sentences for things like this there is going to be a debate whether some people like it or not.
Who cares, shes 14 years old. Maybe if she was close to 18 and had boobs like L. Lohan had back then, I'd be interested. All those would be "To catch a predator" creeps are just gonna have to wait to find another 14year old.
What's the difference anyway you can't post them here anyway right? Just like Pretty Baby.
Don't we have enough flat chested A or B listed stars you could look at here instead of young kids. i.e. Selma Blair, Mena Suvari, Keira Knightley, Maria Bello, Alexadra Paul. And the list goes on..
Child exploitation laws have changed since Brook Shields did Pretty Baby. When Brook appeared in Blue Lagoon, the nude scenes were performed by a body double. While nudity of minors is not strictly prohibited, it cannot be in the context of sexuality. This distinction allows for the publication of nude minors in the context of family oriented nudist resorts. If the case of Romeo and Juliet, the producers would have to set new precedent possibly under the merits of artistic expression. Given the legal cost and possible negative publicity, I don't think that will happen. These child exploitations laws were written specifically to prevent minors from being pressed into the hard core porn industry and I personally do not have an issue with sexually mature minors involved in simulated sex if the scene is integral to the storyline. Since the love scene in Romeo and Juliet is integral to the storyline and a love scene with a minor is not likely, I would prefer the producers went with an actress that is of age.
