Zooey Deschanel to Play Legendary Groupie Pamela Des Barres

Doe-eyed gamine Zooey Deschanel is more likely to be described as cute than sexy, but that might change with her next role. Deschanel is set to play Pamela Des Barres—who bedded some of the world's most famous rock stars, and tons of them—in a new show for HBO.

We like the fact that Zooey-as-Pamela will be on the network that's recently delivered scads of bare babes on shows like True Blood, Entourage, and Hung, but what are the prospects of Zooey giving us a showy?

Zooey Deschanel has just committed to star in an HBO half-hour pilot that will be based on I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie, the Pamela Des Barres’ memoir of bed-hopping with musicians and movie stars in the late 1960s. Deschanel will be executive producer with her longtime manager Sarah Jackson of Seven Summits, and Tim Gibbons, an executive producer of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. Des Barres bragged about her bedroom experiences with the likes of Mick Jagger, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and actor Don Johnson.

Des Barres herself had a very short movie career, appearing in four movies and a pair of TV productions, and she even showed off her des boobs in Slaughter's Big Rip-Off. But given Deschanel's history—a dark, faraway shot of breasts while skinny-dipping in Gigantic is her only nudity to date—we're not expecting her portrayal of Des Barres to be packed with nudity. But since it will be on HBO, we can at least count on some naked groupie groping backstage from less famous actresses!
