Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one of the absolute BEST years in moviemaking: sports movies!
The world is going sports movie crazy after Challengers, so I wanted to highlight a few sports movies that are even sexier. What makes them sexier? Plenty of nudity! Let's look at some cool sports movies that give you thrills in more ways than one. These films are slamdunks in nudity!
Personal Best
I would be remiss if I didn't kick us off with the track-and-field classic Personal Best which may have been Mariel Hemingway's personal best. This is a legitimately good sports movie that focuses on young women competing for their chance to medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Not only are the characters fantastic (due to another stellar Robert Towne script), but there are several nude scenes.
Mariel and the girls had an unforgettable locker room scene. This sauna scene is truly one of the best! All of the ladies are totally naked from their breasts to their bush, showing off their athletic figures as they casually chat. Can I join the team? I'm bad at running, but I'm good at hanging out naked with beautiful women!
Caddyshack
Perhaps a strange one to count, but it definitely counts. Yes, it's a raunchy comedy - but it is a raunchy comedy centered around the sexciting sport of golf. Golf is often joked about as the least exciting sport - sort of an "old man" activity - so the film made golfing fun and funny by including nudity and a lot of it. Kim Bordeaux goes nude in a swimming pool. This naked game of chicken will have you wanting to cluck her!
Then Cindy Morgan makes out with her beau in bed. The best part? She's topless, too!
He Got Game
The film He Got Game goes all over the place as it stars Denzel Washington as a man who goes to prison for accidentally killing his wife. He is offered an escape deal, but it means convincing his basketball-playing son to play for the governor's school. This movie has it all: crime, basketball, and hot babes. Lots of hot babes!
When it's a Spike Lee joint, you can depend on some hot scenes. The hot scenes here come from two hot babes who rarely disappoint when it comes to nudity. We are talking, of course, about Milla Jovovich and Rosario Dawson.
The Wrestler
Mickey Rourke's big comeback role in 2008's The Wrestler was a delightful surprise. He was very critically acclaimed for the role as was his co-star Marisa Tomei whose stripper character made us all wrestle with our belt buckles. Marisa Tomei is too hot as a topless titty dancer with studs through both of her hard nipples. What a dreamy dame!
Who wouldn't love to get into the ring with her and practice some hardcore moves?
