The world is still reeling from the wildly sexy scenes in Poor Things, so it was a shock when the trailer for a NEW film directed by Yorgo Lanthimos dropped this morning. Not only that, but it also stars Emma Stone. Deja vu much? Here's what we know so far about the new film and what we can expect from Kinds of Kindness.
The movie boasts a bunch of starlets whom we love on top of Emma Stone as the leading lady. Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Hunter Schafer, Abi Beaux, and Krystal Alayne Chambers. And these ladies are joined by megastars like Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Joe Alwyn, and Mamadou Athie. This is such a great cast.
What is the film about? We don't actually know. Seriously. According to IMDB, "the plot is being kept under wraps." That feels almost ominous. The trailer features a bevy of stars and a lovely Emma Stone driving a car through the plain streets of Los Angeles (or New Orleans which is where the movie was shot) and ultimately pulling up in front of a motel.
Actress Hong Chau has hinted to the press that the film contains three separate stories and the cast plays different characters. In each? I don't know! I don't know what that means! Do the stories and characters intersect or do they all explore different takes on a single theme? Again, all I have are questions. Other outlets are reporting that this is an anthology type of film or a triptych with three main storylines. Okay, I'm down for that.
If this collaboration sounds familiar to you, it is because it has been listed on IMDB for a while as a film called AND. Emma and Yorgos changed the title and decided to release the film this summer. Summer 2024 will be a kindness indeed!
And will there be nudity? Well, several of the actresses in the film have gone nude before - and often. In Poor Things alone, Emma Stone was banged out in several scenes that showed every single part of her body. The formerly covered-up actress has quite literally taken it all off for the Greek director. Starting with one boob in The Favourite, Emma has now gone full frontal for her fave director!
I mean, you remember the scenes in Poor Things right? Poor Things left us rich with Emma Stone's breasts. This montage of her working as a prostitute in Paris features her with sex toys, ball gags, straps, and a bunch of suggestive positions that don't leave much to the imagination. Great direction!
He's one of my favorite directors, too. His work is challenging and human and it is always told in a fascinating way. The Lobster is my personal favorite, but it's hard not to praise the nude scenes in Dogtooth and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Yorgos Lanthimos blends artsy films, humor, and beautiful nude scenes. That's what makes him such an amazing director.
