If you think that free love and freer funbags were a skinvention of the 1960s, then you've got another think coming, mister. Sexual liberation has been swinging since the early days of the 20th Century, when Josephine Baker made bananas dance with her topless "banana dance" and Clara Bow bared boobage in the first-ever Oscar winner, Wings (1927).

The provocative doc Legendary Sin Cities (2005) chronicles Shanghai's heyday as a center for skinternational sin, but you don't have to step into a time machine to experience the intoxicating decadence of the city once called "the Whore of Asia".

You just have to get your ass to Manhattan, where on January 25Shame co-stars and masters of burlesque Calamity Chang (right) and DeeDee Luxe (left) proudly present Les Fleurs de Shanghai, a new revue that combines bump n' grind with the exotic romance of Old Shanghai:

Les Fleurs de Shanghai is a new show at Duane Park that extols the romance and decadence of Old Shanghai with classic Chinese songs from the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. Shanghai in the 1930s was known as both the "Paris of the East" and the "Whore of Asia" for its cosmopolitan and decadent qualities. This exotic monthly show delivers a taste of the glamor and extravagance of the time, featuring live music by The Night Fragrance Jazz Band withShien Lee(Dances of Vice) and burlesque byCalamity ChangDeeDee Luxewith special guest performerEkaterina.

There is no cover for the show with a 2 drink minimum per person. An optional $40 3-course prix fixe dinner menu will be available for those who would like to dine and enjoy the show.

Come see why these songs we are featuring were denounced as "opium for the masses” during the Shanghai era.
