Today's filmmaker for Female Filmmakers is a hard-working Aussie who produces, directs, and writes film and TV shows all over hte English speaking world. The babe from Down Under is even talented and showing us A-list actress' Down Unders with her work. Let's talk about director Sophie Hyde.
Sophie comes to us from Adelaide in Australia where she was active in her local youth theater as a teenager. She then went on to study film at Flinders University and then at La Trobe University in Melbourne where she graduated in 1988. It did take her nearly a decade to start making her own work, but when she did she was excellent at making original short films and directing music videos and promo videos for nightclubs to make a name for herself. Well, all of that worked!
2011's Life in Movement was her feature film debut and it was a documentary so it was devoid of nudity. That being said, it did earn she and her partner/husband Bryan Mason a lot of awards. After that, they moved on to the narrative feature 52 Tuesdays which was the first time we finally saw nudity in her films.
The 2013 film takes place over the course of a single year while focusing on a family that is crumbling. Tilda Cobham-Hervey plays a teenager who deals with her mother's transition to change her gender. Because of this, the daughter spends less time with her mother who is on her own journey. She mostly sees her on Tuesday afternoons, but the pair struggle with their relationship as htey both undergo several changes. One thing that didn't change is the fact that both of them love women!

After a few years, Sophie returned to nudity with the 2019 film Animals which starred a bevy of hot babes like Alia Shawkat and Holliday Grainger.
