It’s turning into quite a banner year for festival skin, because the spectacular reports just keep pouring in from our Skin Skout at Sundance. Here’s the latest:
Sweetwater stars January Jones as a steely beauty in the Wild West, and she gives up the breast look yet at her double barrels an hour and 10 minutes in. January has slipped a nip before in The Three Burials of Melquaides Estrada (2005), but this nude scene is a full on funbags shot in broad daylight.

But before you get too angry with us, get an eyeful of the openly bisexual Evan Rachel's nude photo shoot, where she and her beautiful booblets blur the line between masculine and feminine in surprisingly seductive fashion. She can do that sort of thing, because she's been there. To wit:
“I feel for guys. I’m telling you. It’s so much pressure. So easily you can turn into a creep. The nominees for this year's Golden Globes were announced this morning in Hollywood, and for Skin fans it was a confirmation that, for onscreen nudity, cable is where (t)it's at.
Out of this year's Best Picture nominees, only My Week with Marilyn featured nudity (and that was a body double), but the Best Actress in a Motion Picture category fared somewhat better. Rooney Mara was nominated for her nude turn in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (details coming next week) along with Glenn Close for the gender-bending drama Albert Nobbs (which you probably haven't heard of, but is nude on Mr. Skin!). Plus, The Skin I Live In, featuring Elena Anaya nude, was also nominated for Best Foreign Language Feature.
Meanwhile in the TV categories, all five of the Best Television Series- Drama nominees featured nudity (or at least Alexandra Breckenridge in a French maid outfit): American Horror Story, Boardwalk Empire, Boss, Game of Thrones, and Homeland all received nods, and are all nude at Mr. Skin. Interestingly, however, none of the Best Actress nominees in the TV categories were also nominudes [nude in the role they were nominated for- SC], save for Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood, who were nominated for their highly pierce-able performances in Mildred Pierce.

Which is ironic, because she clearly wasn't wearing panties in the scene. Evan Rachel Wood has some less than enthusiastic things to say about going full frontal for HBO's Mildred Pierce earlier this year. In a new interview with The Independent, Evan Rachel claims she's sworn off nudity after the miniseries, saying:
"It's not a sexy moment at all. It is one of the most unsettling, disturbing uses of nudity I've seen on TV in quite some time... I am not in a hurry to do it again. It was not as if it's some quick shot. It's one long shot, slowly walking past the camera. There is no hiding anything."
Kate Winslet famously talked her young co-star into going all the way for the scene, and Evan Rachel says she was supportive afterwards as well: "It was terrifying, but afterwards Kate and I had a drink and Kate said, 'Here's to your first full-frontal," she adds.

Evan Rachel Wood made her stiffly anticipated full frontal debut on Mildred Pierce this weekend, and though the scene was rather dark (like all the nudity on this miniseries- didn't they have electricity in the '30s?), fans of the willowy brunette will still find plenty to jerk about. Evan Rachel plays Veda, the spoiled brat daughter of Kate Winslet's Mildred Pierce, and in this episode it was revealed that Veda is sleeping with her mom's man. After the big reveal, Evan Rachel gets out of bed fully nude, baring boobs, butt and merkin before sitting down at her vanity table, still nude.
In other nudes, Tamsin Egerton was a topless vision yet again as Guinevere on Starz' Camelot. The show has revisited Arthur's dream about banging Guinevere on the beach in every episode so far, with different angles on Tamsin's nudity each time. If that means we get to see Tamsin topless every week, then we've got no complaints here at Skin Central.

Former teen queen Evan Rachel Wood will bare some retro rackage in the upcoming HBO adaptation of Mildred Pierce. Evan Rachel plays Veda, the spoiled brat daughter of hardworking Mildred (Kate Winslet). For the remake, set in the 1930s, she made the thoroughly modern decision to go full frontal:
“I hadn’t made my mind up if I was going to go full until we were rehearsing, and I was talking to Todd [Haynes, the series’ writer and director] - like ‘What do you think?’ - and he was like, ‘I think we’re going to be chickening out if we don’t just go for it.’”
At a New York press event for Mildred Pierce, Evan Rachel said she was encouraged by costar Kate Winslet, who famously sent men rushing to the library with her FFN in The Reader (2008):
“I looked at Kate and she was like, ‘You’ve got to do it. Trust me, it’s so brave. Put a merkin on and you’ll be fine.’”
On the topic of her muff flap, Evan Rachel quipped:
“Let’s just say, I had to wear a wig because it was in the ’30s, and everything had to look like it was in the ’30s.”
Next time, Mr. Skin suggests method shaving. Now that would be giving Wood!
