As We Count Down to the 81st Annual Academy Awards on February 22nd, Mr Skin Pays Tribute to the Twenty Actresses Who Took Home Oscar Gold for Films in Which They Flashed Flesh

In the history of the Academy Awards, only one woman has taken home two statues for nude appearances, and that woman is Jane Fonda. Maybe it's because she had to try extra hard to be taken seriously due to her famous parentage, or maybe it's because she just looks damn fine naked, but this Hollywood scion has blazed quite a nude trail in her career, and the little gold man named Oscar has stood erect and given her two proper salutes, for Klute and Coming Home. The oft-nominated Jane stopped getting nods after 1986's The Morning After, which was her next to last nude scene. Coincidence? Mr Skin thinks not. Hey Jane, if you want another trophy, try whipping out your Golden Globes again.

Utah-born movie-maker Hal Ashby, who ranked high among the giants of 1970s Hollywood who reveled in their new freedoms to depict sex and nudity, was born on this date in 1929.

Although Ashby died from cancer in 1988, the classic films he helmed have only improved with age, and they live on as each new generation discovers the power of his one-of-a-kind talent.
